Rabies
Many of us in this world are afraid about dogs; the main reason of this fear may be due to the virus rabies, which is a viral zoonatic disease caused by inflammation in the brain, commonly called as encephalitis. This disease most commonly transmitted by bite from an infected animal. If we let the human untreated it leads of fatal disorders and causes death in a panic manner. These virus goes to the brain by following the peripheral nerves, the incubation period of the disease depends on how fast the virus can reach the brain, the death due to this virus occurs by means of respiratory problems. In non vaccinated patients the symptoms are neurologically fatal but this viral infection can be prevented by pre or post exposure to the vaccine, so people be sure you are not bitten by any animal but if you happen to get yourself vaccinated
Hardware meets software
In olden days the field of medical had no advancements and after the advent of anesthetics there was a good improvement in the field but now due to the recent advancements in the technology the rise of medical field is very high. This is mainly due to the advancements in the Information Technology and in the olden days there was a conflict between scientists of physics and biology but today the researchers of both the field are working together to make wonders in the world and when the biologists used software’s in their work they could find the work was made easier and they can complete their work in less time and this made a new field bioinformatics to emerge. These Bioinformaticians can find a drug to a medicine with the help of computers and they also create software’s to perform this function, so there is a great demand for these engineers .These engineers can develop databases and they can maintain the valuable information’s related to biologists and they are maintaining these databases.
How sinus is examined
When we feel that our cold lasts longer we will consult a doctor and he will find that it is a sinus infection and he will examine our ears, nose, and eyes first then he will check our sinuses by pressing our forehead and cheeks. After confirming it as sinus infection he will prefer an antibiotic, if it is caused by a bacterium the given medicine will work but if it is a viral infection then the medicine doesn’t work. he also gives a spray to knockout all bacteria, In some rare cases the problem will be often and the doctor will be planning to do a small surgery, He will first ask us to take a CT scan which is a specialized type of x-ray which doesn’t hurt and with the results doctors we can have a clear view of sinus to give a better treatment which will help us to get well soon
Stem cells
Another important milestone in the medicine in this era is the identification of stem cells, in general stem cells are cells which are present in almost all organisms from yeast to human and it may be absent in some unicellular organisms but it is seen in all multi cellular organisms. The main advantage of stem cells is that it can renew itself through the mitotic cell division and it can also differentiate itself into a diverse and specialized range of cells, and these stem cells can be grown and transformed into specialized cells with characteristics consistent with cells of various tissues such as muscles or nerves , they are widely used in medical field and this cells can be transformed by means of cell therapies, The main purpose of these cells is their ability to regenerate themselves over the entire lifetime, so when we change our all normal cells into stem cells in our body , no cell can be damaged and if gets damaged it can regenerate itself so there is no need of medicine, so stem cells have a remarkable important in medicine.
Cloning , a boon or bane
The best copier in this world is the technique of cloning which is the process of producing genetically similar individuals, and technically it refers to producing similar DNA fragments. Till now animals like tadpole, sheep, mice, cattle, horse, mice have been cloned and what happens to human is that, In human it refers to creation a similar human who is existing or existed ,but till now human cloning is done in the natural process of reproduction, There are three types of cloning in human and a type is reproductive cloning which is production of similar human which is not performed and it is illegal ,the third type of cloning is the replacement cloning which can be used to replace the damaged parts and affected organs of the body. Serious ethical issues have been produced to use the cloning in human and also more techniques have to be implemented to use cloning in human and highly qualified persons are needed for the process of cloning. In the coming years there will be a very rapid growth in the field of cloning
Diabetes and heart disease
Diabetes is linked to cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes is a common disease(as we have already discussed) and it can be seen in almost every human at an average age of forty, and today about 70-75 percentage death in cardiovascular disease account for diabetic patients, A study says that diabetes doubles the heart problem in men and triples the effect in women. Long duration diabetes and in aged people it causes silent heart attack and they have increased chance of death. And in studies it is observed that diabetes changes the chemical composition of some substances in the blood vessels and this leads to constriction of the blood vessels and it is called hardening of arteries, so people with diabetes have high chances of heart attack and the only way to avoid this is prevention. This can be prevented by exercise, reducing fat levels, and also by quitting smoking, so people with diabetes can take precautions to live longer.
CANCER !! an article to be read
The present scenario is like this, every youth is being put under the influence of tobacco which poses a big threat. Cigarette smoking is an increasing that never seems to end. When a person’s body is put under normal examination, He or she will not be tested for cancer and once the symptoms start increasing in magnitude; We will be put in such a situation that the persons longevity will last only for months or weeks. There are many cancer institutes across the globe that detect and help cure cancer. Cigarette smoking reduces the production of FANCD2 protein, these proteins are held responsible for the damage in lungs. now these researchers are simulating a similar lung in smoke and they are trying to increase the production of FANCD2 ,now further research is going in OHSU institute of cancer about the chances of a person who has quit smoking is vulnerable to cancer or not . Early results show that a person may get affected. Let’s fight cancer. STOP SMOKING
Diabetes !! - must know for all people
If we sneeze and cough and have a blood red nose. We think it to be influenza(common cold) and if it doesn’t cure over a period of time .We may come to a conclusion that we may be having sinus . Sinus is nothing but air filled bags in head and cheeks. They start to grow when a child is in its mother’s womb and they grow till the age 20 .These are located in the back of our eyes, sides of nose and forehead. Like the nose sinus is also linked with mucous which are tiny hairs called cilia. The cilia beats back and forth in waves to clear mucus from the sinuses through a narrow opening in the nose and then move the mucus toward the back of the nose to be swallowed. If we have a cold or allergy, the membrane gets irritated and swollen and produces more mucus. This sinus keeps the head from being heavy and when these sinuses are filled with water like substance instead of air our head weighs, and it also decides the tone and so we will be having different tone when we have cold. When the tiny openings to the sinus are blocked mucous will be struck inside sinus and it serves as a good home for bacteria and virus.
